American Harp Society - Los Angeles Chapter

Auditions for the 2012 Valeria Finzi Memorial Scholarships will be held Sunday, April 29, 2012, from 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm at the Colburn School of Music in downtown Los Angeles.  (Thanks to JoAnn Turovsky, Professor of Harp at the Colburn School of Performing Arts, for arranging for the Scholarship Committee to be able to hold the auditions at this wonderful facility!)

The Valeria Finzi Scholarships are generous awards intended to encourage young students with musical promise. Finzi recipients are expected to perform at the annual Spring Fling (the afternoon of Sunday, May 6, 2012) and are highly encouraged to participate in other chapter events, particularly the Music Education Program and the AHS-LA Masterclass Series. These scholarships are awarded by a committee from the Los Angeles Chapter of the American Harp Society and supported by a fund in memory of harpist & harp teacher Valeria Finzi.

Applications for the auditions (application deadline: March 24, 2012) were accepted from any young harpist who meets ALL of the following requirements:
1. Is currently a member of the Los Angeles Chapter of the American Harp Society. (Membership year runs Sept 2011 to Aug. 2012.)  (Please note: Membership in the national AHS does not constitute membership in the local Los Angeles Chapter, and vice versa.) Chapter membership must be current by March 1, 2012 in order to be eligible to apply for the auditions.
2. Resides in the greater Los Angeles area OR studies with a teacher who is a resident member of the Los Angeles Chapter.
3. Is not yet enrolled in college.
4. Will not be older than eighteen years of age on the date of the Auditions.
5. Fee to enter auditions is $25.
