Saturday, December 15, 2012: in the 15th year of our beloved tradition, harpists/harpers from all over Southern California are invited to gather to share holiday cheer.
We will meet again in the long central lobby of the Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena and play for assembled staff, patients and guests.
Harpers/harpists of all ages and all experience levels, with lever and pedal harps of all sizes, will join to perform a program of Christmas, Hanukah and general-interest harp ensembles planned by Extravaganza director Elaine Litster.
Participating harpists MEET at 11:15 am: we set up, tune, and have a quick talk-through in lieu of rehearsal, then give a 12:00 noon performance. Performers: Bring your own harp, stool, music stand and music. The music is arranged for one to four harps; select whichever part you desire. Feel free to play one or two hands as ability allows. It is not necessary to play every song, just those you are comfortable with. Teachers are encouraged to bring their students and play along with them. Much of the music can be played as a solo and can be used throughout the holiday season. All music is playable on a lever or pedal harp.
There is no charge to participate in this event. Performers receive a voucher for free parking; listeners pay for parking, but there is no entrance fee.
The list of this year's MUSICAL SELECTIONS may be viewed and purchased at www.harpcenter.com/Extravaganza
AHS-LA members can download flyer with more details such as tempo, etc, from 'Members Only Information' section of this site (after logging in).
