Service Hours Project Encourages Youth Involvement in AHS-LA
Help your harp society, learn the behind-the-scenes workings of the society, learn leadership skills, and earn service hours applicable to your school's requirements!
School-age members of AHS-LA who complete 10 hours of service through AHS-LA, during a 12-month period from May through April, will receive a Certificate of Service at the following Spring Fling (usually held in May).
Examples of service hour activities include:
Working the welcome table at AHS-LA events (helping with ticket sales, CD sales, and membership)
Setting up for receptions/cleaning up after receptions
Guidelines for Student Service:
Service must be okayed in advance by the supervisor of the event.
Students must:
- Be a current member of AHS-LA.
- Be on time or early for their service; not late.
- Be dressed conservatively and appropriately.
- Demonstrate a good attitude.
Please Remember:
- Students do not receive service hour credit for participating in AHS-LA events as a harpist (i.e. Music Ed. or Finzi auditions)
- Any service hour credit for non-event tasks (stuffing envelopes for mailing, etc.) must be done in the presence of an AHS-LA board member designated to supervising that task.
- Students must turn in a service hour participation form at the end of each event. (Download form from the 'Members-only Information' section of this site after logging in.)
