American Harp Society, Los Angeles Chapter

announces our Second New Music Composition Competition*:

"Celebration of Harp and Flute"

Prizes of $1,000, $500, $300

Entry requirements:

Pieces should be newly composed for this competition: not previously published or performed.
For Harp and Flute.
(Pedal harp; C flute, piccolo, alto flute and/or bass flute [one harpist & one flutist])
8 to 12 minutes in length. 
Focused on the theme of Water.

Submissions must include:
- a completed Application Form (see below)
- a PDF of the score
- an MP3 of a non-commercially-released recording of the piece played by a harpist and a flutist 
(no MIDI mockups)

Submission deadline is December 1, 2016. 
Competition winners (and honorable mentions if any) will be announced by January 1, 2017.
Winning compositions will be performed at a free concert in Spring 2017. 
A live recording of the concert and a PDF of each winning work will be sent to the International Harp Archives for free access by AHS members. Live recordings will also be sent to the performers and composers of the winning works.

All application materials should be submitted digitally. Please submit your application first, via the form below.

After you submit your application, you will be e-mailed a confirmation that the application has been received. In this confirmation will be your identification number. Please put this number on your recording and on the score; do not put any other identification (such as your name, email, publishing company etc.) on the recording or the score. Please do include the title of the piece and the approximate duration of the piece on the recording and the score. Then submit your MP3 recording and PDF score.
