Holiday Harp Extravaganza on YouTube

December 1, 2020 submission deadline
(Goes live on YouTube 12/15/2020)

This year, we will be celebrating the holidays in accordance with our new social guidelines.

Customarily we meet at Huntington Hospital on a Saturday in December and play all our holiday favorites in a giant ensemble.
But the hospital is not allowing such events this year, and we need to be mindful of one another’s health and safety.

Instead, we are encouraging everyone to send in a video of themselves playing their parts of three of our favorites, and our new First Vice President, Gracie Sprout, will make them into one big, amazing, ever so festive compilation to watch on YouTube and share with your friends.

Gracie has recorded MP3s of each of the harp parts, with and without a click (metronome sound).

You can download them here.

You will need to listen to these "guide track" MP3s by having them playing on one device (computer, phone, iPad, iPod), with headphones or earbuds, while recording your video on a separate device (computer, phone, iPad, or video camera).

Please practice with the guide tracks in your headphones or earbuds, to get used to doing so, before recording your video!

(In case you need to practice slowly at first and work up to the full tempo, FYI the tempos are listed below next to the selections.)
To help with your preparation, Gracie Sprout and Jillian Lopez gave a Zoom workshop on November 8th discussing both how to record videos with pro audio equipment, and how to record them with a phone or iPad. The video of the workshop can be viewed on Youtube here, or downloaded from here.
Submit your videos to Gracie by December 1st (Please see the information sheet for settings required and how to name your videos) and she will magically produce our first LA Chapter harp ensemble video!
