On February 23 and March 23, 2014, several harp students of all ages and levels participated in the Music Education Sessions (aka Auditions & Evaluations), which are held annually by the Los Angeles chapter in cooperation with the (National) American Harp Society.
Each student played two pieces for Guest Advisor Susan Allen, an internationally renowned performer and teacher who is a professor and dean at Cal Arts. They applied the suggestions she had made in the February session and returned at the March session to show their progress and get additional tips.
Congratulations to all the students who study so hard, and to the teachers and families who support and encourage them! And thanks to Susan Allen for being our Guest Advisor, to Linda-Rose Hembreiker (AHS-LA 2nd VP and Education Chair) for organizing the event, and to Paul Baker (AHS-LA board and past President) for lending his concert grand harp, and being chief harp mover and tuner!
Harp students of all ages and levels, be sure to sign up for this wonderful opportunity every year!
